ARES Looses a Friend and Ally
It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of a great friend and ally. November 13, 2018 Ron Hunt became a silent key; he died at about 02:00 Tuesday morning from a sudden illness. Ron was a board member for both FARC and CARP, and was an active member of both clubs for years. He also was known for his work as a SAG driver for many of the Cycling Events we help with. Owing his own repeater, he operated the W6FSC repeater system and assisted with the upkeep of many more.
ARES Traffic Exercise
Fresno ARES/RACES will be conducting an on-the-air exercise Friday, 23 November at 1930L. This will be a message traffic type exercise. Directions specific to this exercise will be given at the beginning. All licensed amateurs are welcome, everyone is encouraged to participate. The exercise will be conducted on the N6HEW repeater, 147.150 with a positive offset and a tone of 141.3.

(The results of the exercise will be posted in next month’s publication.)

ARES Connect San Joaquin Valley!
Please view and sign up for available opportunities below. When you volunteer with ARRL, you help: educate the public about the Amateur Radio Service, welcome newcomers, encourage self-training and skill advancement and bolster a nationwide emergency communications network.
The new ARES Connect volunteer management system provides many valuable features that will truly enhance the experience of emergency communication volunteers. Those features include: a robust event management feature that allows you to create events, register users, log hours; a more automated reporting system based on user input, so that, instead of filing reports, you will be able to generate reports based on the events users register and log hours for; enhanced roster management capabilities; and embedded communications tools that will allow you to send email and text messages to volunteers.
Information for registering as an ARES Member will be coming in the near future. This is an exciting new tool for all of us. Please consider registering for in the near future it will be the only way to report our training and public service hours to the national. You can go to our website and find the link and sign up. When you do, please remember to use your call sigh as USER NAME.
Upcoming Emcomm Service Events
We are waiting for CARP to announce the new calendar of the 2019 events that we will be assisting them with. As soon as it is published I will pass it on and uploaded it onto the website.
We are now posting events and meetings on the calendar as well as posting articles on the home page. There is a lot of new information and links added to the site as well thanks to our Webmaster Brian (K6OGR)
Check us out at fcemcomm.org.

We are looking for volunteers to take a turn as net control on Monday nights. This is not a difficult task. We will provide the preamble and net roster.
