EC Report for June 2017
The schedule for the month of June was: 4 Monday Night EmComm Nets and 1 EmComm and Coffee, 1 EmComm Monthly Meeting, and 1 public service event.
You might have noticed that the 147.15 repeated was down from Friday, June 16 until Tuesday, June 20. This was due to technical difficulties with the linking system. All seems well with the machine now so feel free to use it.

Climb To Kaiser
This year CARP asked us to help with the communications for the Climb to Kaiser Ride. Several of our ARES/RACES members volunteered. The ride is 155 miles long and climbs to Kaiser Pass Summit which is about 9,900 ft. in elevation. The ride starts at 04:30 and finishes around 23:00 hr.
There was one major incident early in the ride where 20-24 riders collided in the Watts Valley area. I was told by the staff at Kaiser Summit turnaround that 4 riders had injured their clavicles.
The weather was also interesting. I was at the summit while there was a thunder storm. There was hard rain, sleet and hail. We had to hold the riders at the top until the weather calmed down. The storm passed and we were allowed to let the riders continue if they wanted or be SAGed back into the start/finish area.
We were a little shorthanded due to the multiple events going on the same weekend. Maybe next year we can get some more help and make things go a little smoother. I want to thank all of our members that took part for a great job.
Field Day 2017
I hope you had the opportunity to participate this year, either with a club sponsored venue or at your home station. SATERN didn’t conduct Field Day form the Citadel this year.
Net Control Staff Needed
We are looking for volunteers to take a turn as net control on Monday nights. This is not a difficult task. We will provide the preamble and net roster. This is a great way to enhance your skills running a net for emergency situations. If you are interested, please contact Gary (KI6OYW) at 559-269-1340 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Don’t forget the Monday Night EmComm Net at 19:30 hr. on the 147.15 MHz Pl 141.3. We have some good information and camaraderie. On the third Friday of the month there is the EmComm & Coffee at YFC on Cedar south of Ashlan in Granite Park at 07:00hr. And last but not least the EmComm Meetings are held on the Fourth Thursday of month. Our next meeting will be July 27 , 2017 at 1900 hr. at the Salvation Army Citadel at 1854 Fulton St., Fresno.
